The idea for EverlastingYum originated years ago when my sister got married. Our mom suggested we do a cookbook for her and her husband-to-be, so that they would have some meals when they got married. It was a good way to preserve the family recipes, many of which were never written down, and also provided an opportunity for friends and other relatives to contribute their own favorite recipes to the newlyweds.
I was tasked with collecting and editing all the submissions, and then formatting and printing the cookbook. Translating some of the hand-written recipes was challenging, to say the least, but I was able to decipher my grandmother’s notes and create a beautiful, and useful wedding gift for my sister and brother-in-law. Somewhere along the line, it was suggested that not only should they receive a keepsake, but friends and family who contributed a recipe should also receive a copy. So we printed enough for each of the families who attended their wedding.
Delighted by this unique party favor, guests exclaimed how much they loved this personal, yet professional gift, to which many helped contribute. It proved to be an incredible success – so much so, that my other sister wanted one for her wedding, a few years later!
With a second cookbook under my belt, the idea to turn this into a business started forming. Years later, after a few successful business ventures, and the evolution of the internet, EverlastingYum was born. With an easy, online submission process, and a focus on quality and customer satisfaction, I created a service that helps families preserve their cherished recipes and also gives newlyweds and wedding guests a useful keepsake that will last a lifetime.
It was a pleasure creating something so special for my sisters years ago. I now look forward to helping each of you create your own personal cookbook, with meals and memories to satisfy the soul for years to come.
